Inspiration
comes in flashes of light
That burst thru the mind — then fade out of sight,
Or moves
as softly as butterfly wings
To reveal the truths of eternal things.
So focus to capture in thy
mind,
Vivid images of the most brilliant kind.
And in thy heart, invite Truth
to stay
Before He quietly flutters away.
But the
Enemy to all that is truth and right
Shoots epistles as dark as the blackest night.
As barbs
of a sticker they cling to the mind
Burr into the heart and multiply in kind.
Like parasites
they choke out each flash of light
And dissect fragile butterflies with fiendish delight.
Then swell
to spread blankets of turmoil and doubt
Until each spark of truth is crushed and put out.
Yet the Master of all that is Truth and Light,
Shows what we must do to
win the “good fight.”
There’s no need to struggle with life’s trials alone,
If in faith we seek help
through the One who atoned.
Who stands ready with angels and pillars of fire
To defend our souls from
Satan’s wrath and ire.
Who promises to succor, when we do our part,
And save us from all that Evil imparts.
